Visit to Staffordshire 12 – 16 October 2017
Join us for a long weekend visit to the potteries of Stoke-on-Trent, including the Gladstone Pottery Museum where it’s clear why eighteenth century potters were old at 35, and learn about refined industrial techniques at the Wedgwood centre.
We will tour Middleport Pottery where the TV programme ‘The Great Pottery Throwdown’ was filmed and decorate our own mug or plate at the Emma Bridgewater studio.
A highlight will be a tour of the world’s largest collection of Staffordshire ceramics at the Potteries Museum and Art gallery.
We plan to see Trentham Gardens and spend an afternoon at the Shugborough Estate – the former home of Lord Lichfield.
There will also be a visit to the Royal Worcester Museum on the way north from Dorset, and time at the Birmingham Art galleries on the return journey.
